Why Study at Tufts?
Did you know that Tufts is ranked One of the Top 200 Universities of the World by the Times of London?
Did you know that Tufts is in the Boston area, one of the places in the US with the greatest concentration of great colleges and Universities: we are two metro stops away from Harvard, four metro stops from MIT, and Boston University is just across the river.
Tufts offers outstanding graduate programs. Here are several reasons you should consider coming to Tufts:
Students work with leading faculty in several capacities, interacting through coursework, projects and theses. We are known for being a tight-knit, supportive, and friendly place to do world-class cutting edge research, an unusual mix! You will know the names of all the faculty, and they will know your name and your interests as well.
We are equally proud of our outstanding student body. Our 2008 and 2009 PhD graduates have gone on to postdocs at University of Maryland, College Park, staff positions at Google and Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs, and tenure-track faculty positions at Northwestern University and Wellesley College. Our masters students routinely get multiple job offers in industry, and many outstanding companies come to Tufts to recruit are graduates. Our undergraduates are strong enough to keep all graduate students on their toes.
Intedisciplinary research is also a focus at Tufts; we have numerous innovative multidisciplinary programs that will enrich your graduate experience, expose you to novel and fascinating problems, and to emerging areas such as computational biology, and "green" computing.
Half of our masters and PhD students come straight from their undergraduate college; arriving with a bachelor's degree; the other half come with a masters in Computer Science (for the PhD) or with several years of Industry experience between their undergraduate and graduate school years. We also have an innovatve Post-Bac program for students whose undergraduate majors were not in computer science but want to fill in their computer science background (either in preparation for masters-level study or industry jobs).
