Installation instructions for Eclipse/Lomboz/JBoss

This is a guide to help you install Eclipse, Lomboz, and JBoss so you can do EJB development on your home machine. They will be installed on the computers in Room 120, so you don't need to install them at home if you don't want.

First, you should download all the files in the Files directory except Eclipse, the JRE, and the J2SDK if you've already installed them. These files are for Windows machines. If you're using another OS, you'll need to find the right versions of the files on your own by going to the vendor websites, which are linked from the tutorial below. The correct file versions are listed here.

Now, you're going to walk through Chapter 1 of this tutorial using the files we've provided rather then the ones linked to in the tutorial. The last part of that page, "Test your configuration", will be your Programming Assignment 4. But wait! Since we're using different versions of the software, some of the instructions are different. This document details the specific changes you need to make to the tutorial to get everything to work. Please refer to it as you work through the tutorial.

If you can complete the test project at the end of the page, you're good to go.
