Comp 150-07: Intelligent Robotics
Homework 1 - due by 6pm, Tuesday Jan 27, 2009
Individual Component -- 10%
An orthogonal matrix is one whose inverse is equal to its transpose. So if A is an orthogonal matrix and AT its transpose, then A*AT is the identity matrix.
- Come up with an orthogonal 3x3 matrix, call it A. You may not use the identity matrix.
- Calculate its transpose AT.
- Show that A*AT = I.
Hand in your answers at the beginning of class on Tuesday Jan 27, or using the provide system by 6pm on Tuesday Jan 27.
Team Component -- 90%
Rube Goldberg Machine -- Lab 1
Each team member must be present in class on Tuesday Jan 27 at 6pm for machine demo in order to get a grade.
Remember to hand in a hard copy of the team lab report showing:
- Team names
- Checkboxes next to
- size (max. 3'x4'x5')
- no commercial source of electric potential
- only 2 human interventions
- Photograph of your machine, labelled with energy transfers
- List of energy transfers
- Short descriptions of each energy tansfer and materials used
A good way to write the lab report is to make it a webpage (you must
still print out one copy to hand in during class). We can
then link the webpages to the class for general show-off purposes.
