Comp194WAP: Wireless Application Protocol and Web Markup Language

This course covers the problems and challenges of authoring web sites using WAP/WML. Prerequisites include Comp20 or equivalent a willingness to participate in a forum-based class by presenting material on a rotating basis. Requirements include class attendance and participation, presenting material, a final project in WAP and a final paper containing a critical analysis of the project. You are encouraged to work on the final project as a group, and then write up and discuss your own part of the group project.

What follows is a presentation schedule. Each presentation should cover the material listed and contain many of your own examples of how to use the material in a practical setting. Ideally, each presentation should be formatted in WML! But I'll accept HTML at the beginning for posterity.

Every Wednesday, the 'presenter' should try to get to class early and install whatever tools are needed on my laptop or the classroom computer, so that you can show what you need during your presentation.

Books

Alas, the books that describe WAP and WML are limited in number. I have chosen two of five available books for us to study:

These other books are also recommended but not required:
