Abstract

This talk will briefly discuss prior work, but will focus on future research directions. Part one will discuss work defining a perceptual measure for line chart complexity, as well as work identifying research opportunities for visualization systems that better support data scientist and subject matter expert collaborations. Part two will define behavioral nudging, and give an overview of the current the state-of-the-art in this area specific to computer science. The talk will conclude with a discussion of future research including two systems that use behavioral nudging techniques to improve public health, and how me might leverage behavioral nudging in interactive visualizations to support Bayesian reasoning.
