Abstract

The recent advances in PC and imaging technologies have made available to three dimensional machine vision developers and users new tools with the potential of lowering the cost and speeding the process of automated inspection systems. Systems are made more robust, faster and easier to configure to process changes. The systems presented include laser scanning, structured light, stereo viewing and other technologies. This presentation will review each technique with its strong and weak points. Techniques for designing simple 3D imaging systems will also be presented.
