Abstract

Ecommerce revenue is expected to grow from $7.4 billion in 1997 to around $300 billion by 2002. With this explosive growth more companies are looking to get online. This lecture will look at different ways in which a small business can setup and promote an online store and the steps required. Different software suites will be compared for flexibility, ease of use, cost, and openness and an overview will be given of the underlying ecommerce technologies to include scripting, active server pages, database connectivity, and security.
