Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore younger students' ability to understand processes and design algorithms in order to solve general problems. Four classrooms of second grade students were observed over seven class meetings, five lessons, and two testing sessions, on the application and design of algorithms. The results indicate that students do show an understanding of algorithms and improve in their ability to develop processes after intervention.
