The design language Hermes/dl aims to facilitate communication between all parties involved in the creation, design, realization and evolution of interactive systems. Hermes/dl provides humans with the theoretical means to describe complex dynamic systems in terms of components and their structural and temporal relationships. As a design language, Hermes/dl comprises of a collection of primitives, sets of organizing principles, and collections of qualifying situations. A graphical notation aims to make Hermes/dl more accessible and appealing to potential users in creative and scientific fields. A rigorous graph theoretic formulation enables systematic manipulations.
