Our lab focuses on research in both data mining and computer security.

Data Mining: The focus of our research is on fundamental machine learning/data mining issues within the context of practical applications. Our current research includes projects on:

  • Anomaly detection
  • Clustering high dimensional data
  • Clustering and classification of text for digital libraries
  • Detection of mislabeled and/or noisy data

Applications: Current applications that we are working on include:

  • Perseus, A digital library for classics (Tufts University)
  • Astrophysics (Harvard University)
  • Vapor-based sensing (Tufts University)
  • Creating maps of global land cover (Boston University)

Computer Security: We are developing approaches to solve current problems at the systems level. Our current research includes projects on:

  • Hardware support for intrusion detection
  • User-reauthentication via behavioral modeling
  • Detection and rate limiting of network covert channels
