If you have a microarray data set that relates to the study of a rare
of orphaned disease, and don't have the resources to analyze it, we
may be able to help. Our faculty and students are up to date on all
the latest microarray methods -- we don't use a one-size-fits all
solution but work with you to try to understand what you are trying to
get out of the data you have, what your intuition says, and try to
pick the method or methods that will find the information in your
data. We understand that analyzing these data sets is still partially
an art, as well as a science, and we are willing to closely
collaborate to get out what we can for you from your data.
You will have first access and first right of publication of the results of our analysis on your data. We do not distribute your data without your permission or publish any of the results we obtain -- we send these results back to you. We then require that you publish your results in a publically available peer-reviewed journal (extra points if it's open access) in a timely fashion. If someone at the Terry Center has worked hard on your data, it is courteous to invite them to be a co-author on the paper, particularly if they are a student. We do expect that the information get shared in a timely fashion, therefore if it's a year after we sent our analysis and you still haven't published, we reserve the right to submit our analysis for publication ourselves (we will typically ask you to be co-authors).
Talk to us if you are interested in making the raw data itself publically available but lack the hosting capabilities. Human data must follow all HPAA privacy standards.
Of course, what we can do depends on our backlog. Please contact us if you are interested.
