250-RBI Reality-Based Interaction

Info

  • Meeting time: Mondays 1:30 p.m., in Halligan conference room (Halligan 127)
  • Course description

Dates

  • Tue Nov 29: Prof. Holly Taylor, Psychology Dept, will visit (watch this space for readings)
  • Tue Dec 6: Last class, final presentations

Assignments

  • For Sep 13: Find a paper on an example of a new interaction style (see list below) in the ACM Digital Library (see below for how to access). Don't choose one of the papers we discussed or listed in class. Read the paper and talk about it briefly at the class (not a full presentation).
  • For Sep 20: Reading assignment
  • For Sep 27: Reading assignment
  • For Oct 18: As discussed in class: (1) Pick a new interface, read its paper, make list of skills/knowledge; (2) Plan experiments to test RBI theory. For (2) prepare a short (5 minute) presentation of your experimental proposal using overhead slides.
  • For Nov 1: Reading assignment. Also feel free to refine your experiment from last time, we will discuss the rest of them on Nov. 1.
  • For Nov 15: Reading assignment.
