Boston-Area HCI Research 1-minute Madness and Dinner

In the interest of fostering a community that will give students interested in HCI research better access to the rich resources available in the greater Boston HCI research community, we would like to invite you and your research groups to an evening of food and informal student presentations:

Boston-Area HCI Research 1-minute "Madness" and Dinner
6pm, Wednesday, November 11, 2009
Admiral Grace Hopper Room
Maxwell-Dworkin building at Harvard University
33 Oxford St, Cambridge, MA

WHY

There is lots of HCI research in the Boston area, and there is a lot of expertise available, too. But we are scattered among many different institutions. A tighter HCI research community in the region will provide current students with a broader set of peers and access to more expertise, open up opportunities for students and industry research to establish relationships, and will help in recruiting new HCI students to Boston area schools.

WHAT

We believe that a 1-minute "Madness" event would be a fun and effective way to get to know each other and to start building the community. All students that are actively involved in research are strongly encouraged to present, and others are warmly welcome to do so. Each presenter will have 1 minute to share their research or ideas that excite them. You are encouraged to attend even if you cannot present.

We will provide dinner. Come hungry.

HOW

1. Please let us know if you are coming: http://bit.ly/ls4ys (so that we can plan the food!)

2. By Nov 8, please send your slide(s) to Chuan-Heng Hsiao at chhsiao@fas.harvard.edu (for instructions see http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~kgajos/events/bostonhci/
