2008 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest
BOSPRE/Tufts

This year Tufts is one of the sites for the preliminary round of the Northeast region of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.

BOSPRE 2008 is a cooperative effort between Brown University and Tufts University (the host sites), and Harvard, which provides judging and problems.

How to get to Tufts

How to get to the Computer Science Department in Halligan Hall

(where the contest will be held)

Taking the T: Take the T to the Davis Square stop on the red line. After exiting the station, you will be in the middle of Davis Square. Take College Avenue out of the square toward Tufts, which is about .7 miles up the road. You'll encounter a rotary at Powder House Square along the way. Just keep going as if straight and continue up College Avenue into Medford and over the hill along the base of Tufts main campus and down across the bridge over the railroad tracks. Halligan Hall will be on your left just after the railroad bridge.

Driving: I suggest using Google Maps or MapQuest to find directions from your location to 161 College Avenue, Medford, MA,02155 the address of Halligan Hall. There is a parking lot right across the street from the building, which is a permit lot but October 13 is the Saturday of Parent's Weekend so no worry about ticketing that day.

A map of the campus showing where Halligan Hall is with respect to the rest of campus can be found here. Halligan 118, 120, and 122 are on the 1st floor; there will be directional signs to the rooms in the building. The door might be locked when you get there since that is normal procedure on Saturday. If it is we will be checking it every couple of minutes so don't despair.

Schedule for Saturday, Oct 18, 2008

8:30-9:55 Arrive at Tufts and check in in Room 118. Breakfast will be available in the kitchen of Halligan (across and down the from Halligan 120 and 122 where the contest will be held). When you arrive you will be given individual packet of information and the team registration fee of $75 will be collected. It is preferable to pay by check (made payable to Trustees of Tufts College) but cash can also be accepted. We will not have any way to take credit card payments.

9:55-10:00 VERY short meeting in Room 118 solely to introduce the people running the contest and answer questions. In theory, everything you really need to know will be in the handouts which you have read off the web and were given in hardcopy when you checked in. The meeting will end at 10:00am SHARP with problems being handed out, after which teams will go to their terminals.

10:00-3:00 The actual contest! (in Halligan 120)

11:30-4:00 Lunch will be available for contestants to eat as they please during this time (please don't eat in the computer room).

3:00-4:00 The final scores will be released, and we may discuss some problem solutions.

Should any problems arise, or you would like to ask some questions, please call Ben Rubinger at 601-585-3844. He will be available on this number throughout the day.

You may want to read some contest rules and instructions here.
