How to graduate (February/June 2024)
When you are preparing to graduate at Tufts, there are quite a few
things you need to do. The following information comes to you from
Megan Monaghan, our CS Department Advising Specialist (with light
editing from Mark Sheldon for formatting on the web).
Please get materials to us several days before the ultimate deadline.
It can take a few days for something submitted to the
department to get reviewed, signed, and returned to the student.
If there is a problem, you also want to time to be notified and to
address the issue.
All students
- More information on graduation, including what is required for a
graduation paperwork packet, how to apply for graduation in SIS, and
various deadlines, can be found at the
Tufts
page on applying to graduate.
- Here are
instructions on how to run your degree audit (the tool Tufts
uses to track degree progress) and save it as a PDF.
- Please clearly name any files you’ll be uploading for
signature. A naming convention for each type of student is
included in the instructions below.
All CS minors (A&S and SoE)
- Fill out the CS
minor checklist form and sign.
- For any F23 classes, please use a grade of IP for in progress
- For any SP24 classes, use a grade of TBD
- Please name your saved checklist “Lastname Firstname CS
minor checklist”
- Upload the completed checklist to the CS
Minor Box folder.
Your checklist will be reviewed, signed, and returned to you via
email. You can then upload your minor checklist with the rest of your
graduation paperwork.
A&S CS majors or SoE students with CS as a second major
through A&S
- Fill out the CS
major checklist form. The only signature you are responsible for is your own!
- For any F23 classes, please use a grade of IP for “in
progress.&rdauo;
- For any SP24 classes, use a grade of TBD.
- Please name your saved checklist “Lastname Firstname CS
major checklist”
- Upload the completed checklist to the
CS
A&S major checklist Box folder.
Note: A&S students need to include their degree
audit with their graduation paperwork, but it only needs to be signed
by you, the student. SoE students do need their audit signed, but only
for their primary SoE major. So A&S students, and SoE students
with CS as a second major through A&S, should only be uploading
their CS major checklist to this Box.
Your checklist will be reviewed, we will get your advisor and program
coordinator’s signatures, and the fully signed form will be returned
to you via email. You can then upload your minor checklist with the
rest of your graduation paperwork.
SoE BSCS and BSDS majors
- You will need to submit a copy of your degree audit. The only
signature you are responsible for is your own!
- Your audit must be “finished” before you can submit
it. A “finished” audit is one that lists all
requirements as either complete (green check) or in progress (blue
ellipsis). This means you will likely have to register for your
Spring courses (unless you’re a February candidate!), and
definitely have any potential course substitution petitions fully
approved, prior to submitting your audit for signature.
- If you need to petition a course substitution, the form can be
found on the
Tufts
student forms page.
- Please name your file “Lastname Firstname [BSCS/BSDS]
audit” Upload your audit to the
SoE
BSCS/BSDS audit folder on Box.
Your audit will be reviewed, we will get your advisor and ABET
coordinator’s signature, and the fully signed audit will be returned
to you via email. You can then upload your audit with the rest of your
graduation paperwork.
