Professor Vo Van Toi has developed and participated in several academic activities in Vietnam as:

1. Fieldtrip Study Leader: From February 13^th to March 1^st, 2003, Professor Vo Van Toi led a group of alumni of Tufts University and Washington University in St. Louis to visit Vietnam and Cambodia

2. Scholarship Coordinator: In 2003 Professor Vo Van Toi was coordinating a Scholarship Program in Biomedical Engineering for students from Vietnam. Currently three students pursuing Ph.D. degree in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Tufts.

3. US Delegation Leader: Under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, from January 3rd, 2004 to January 15th, 2004 Professor Vo Van Toi led a delegation of Biomedical Engineering professors from American universities to visit different Vietnamese universities to assess the needs for Biomedical Engineering in Vietnam. 4. Member of Board of Directors of VEF: In 2004, Professor Vo Van Toi was appointed by the President of the United States George W. Bush as a member of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF).

5. Millennium Science Initiative Participant: From March 17 to March 21, 2005 Professor Vo Van Toi accompanied the Science Initiative Group (SIG) to Vietnam to work with the Vietnamese government to explore the possibility to establish Centers of Excellence in Vietnam. In the press:
